  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 medium onion, chopped
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • 0.5 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta
  • 14 ounces canned tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach packed
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in crushed red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Add the uncooked orzo, canned tomato sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer until orzo is cooked, about 10 minutes.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and grated parmesan cheese, followed by the fresh spinach. Cook until the spinach is wilted.
  7. Serve warm.
