Cake Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.

  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla.
  4. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, alternating with milk or water until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter; dye one half red and leave the other white. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting with whipped heavy cream between layers and on top.
