Ingredients

Fluffy Spiced Oat Base
  • 2 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups whole milk (or unsweetened almond milk)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Caramelized Cinnamon Roll Swirl
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Velvety Cream Cheese Glaze
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 tbsp whole milk or warm cream
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Method

Oat Batter Assembly
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease an 8x8-inch or 9x9-inch ceramic baking dish with softened butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, baking powder, ground cinnamon, sea salt, and ground nutmeg until evenly blended.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, maple syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour wet mixture into dry oats and stir until thoroughly combined. Pour into prepared ceramic dish.
Cinnamon Swirl & Baking
  1. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, dark brown sugar, and ground cinnamon into a thick paste. Dollop spoonfuls across the top of the oat batter, then use a butter knife or skewer to swirl the mixture into elegant ribbons throughout the dish.
  2. Bake at 375°F for 28 to 32 minutes until edges are golden, the center is gently set, and cinnamon sugar bubbles along the sides. Let cool for 10 minutes.
Glazing & Serving
  1. In a small bowl, whisk softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until completely smooth and pourable. Drizzle warm glaze generously over baked oatmeal just before slicing and serving hot!
